The first report linking smoking and tobacco usage to disease and death was published in 1859, but the tobacco industry still spends $15.5 billion dollars a year (or $42 million dollars a day) to promote tobacco use and keep you addicted to a product that is killing you.

ow long does the Quit Smoking Laser Spa of N.J. laser treatment take?

The low level laser application itself takes approximately 30-35 minutes but your entire session, including paperwork and counseling on your smoking habits and tips for staying on track and kicking the cigarette habit for good will last about 55 minutes.

Will I really quit smoking forever?

The answer is yes, you certainly should. However, low level "cold" laser smoking cessation therapy is only recommended for individuals who are serious about quitting tobacco. You have to realize that cigarettes are detrimental to your life and be ready to make a change. If you've come to the point in your life where you want to stop smoking but just need help, there is no form of assistance (drugs, gum, patches, hypnosis, needle acupuncture, motivational literature) with a better success rate than laser therapy. Low level laser smoking cessation success rates have been reported to be 80-90% in Europe and Canada; with IRB investigations currently underway in the United States. The laser releases endorphins that help to combat the smoking addiction while also warding off uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, which helps to ensure your success.

Is this a medical procedure?

Low level laser therapy is not a medical procedure. The procedure is holistic in its approach to breaking smoking addiction. Through the power of pure laser light and a process similar to (but more effective than) acupuncture, the natural release of endorphins is used to combat the addictive elements of nicotine and reverse the smoking habit. Following smoking cessation protocols developed in Europe, a "cold" (non-cutting, non-burning) laser is used to draw out the human body's natural healing and addiction breaking abilities.

Is there anyone who should not undergo the smoking cessation "cold" laser treatment?

Low level laser light is not known to have ever affected anyone in a negative way; even those individuals with prior medical conditions could almost certainly undergo the low intensity laser light treatment without any cause for concern. If you have any questions about undergoing the procedure, please contact your personal physician before scheduling an appointment with us. As a precaution, we will not perform the treatment on any client who discloses that they: are pregnant, have taken injectable steroids or drugs that relate to photosensitivity during the past 48 hours, suffers from a skin condition that is related to sunlight exposure or exposure to other light sources, has a pacemaker, has a history of malignant skin cancer, is undergoing chemotherapy or is currently battling cancer of any kind that is not in remission, suffers from epilepsy, or has an extreme sunburn.

What is the cost of the smoking cessation treatment? What forms of payment are accepted at Quit Smoking Laser Spa of N.J.?

The cost of the program is $249 which includes all elements associated with the quit smoking laser program, including a complimentary booster session (within 1 month of your initial treatment) for those who need it. This is usually less money than the average smoker spends on purchasing cigarettes in a one month period of time. There are corporate discount plans available if your employer is enrolled in the program. In addition, we offer a 10% discount to students (ID required), seniors over 65 (proof of DOB required), and both active & former law enforcement and military personnel (valid proof required). We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash, and a personal check if it is sent to us in advance and clears payment prior to your scheduled appointment.

Does insurance cover the quit smoking laser therapy?

Medical insurance does not cover the cost of low level "cold" laser smoking cessation programs. However, you can often claim the treatment as a tax deduction. Before claiming any such deduction, make sure that you check with a licensed accountant in your state. Additionally, quitting smoking should lead to a decrease in your premiums for both health and life insurance policies.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes, the procedure is by all means safe. The FDA has cleared low level laser treatment in the U.S. for pain management and currently there are clinical trials going on throughout the country to determine its rate of success in treating individuals for smoking cessation, weight gain, eating disorders, gambling addiction, and alcoholism. The FDA has further stated that LLLT devices are "non significant risk medical devices" and deemed them to be "harmless". The laser used in our smoking cessation treatments is not a high intensity "hot" laser and does not involve cutting or burning the client in any way. Instead, it uses the power and energy of super-concentrated pure light to stimulate cell activity and release endorphins that counteract the body's dependence on nicotine. During your laser session you must wear protective eyewear, which we will provide.

What is a "cold" laser?

The laser used at Quit Smoking Laser Spa of NJ is a low level laser that utilizes pure concentrated light to stimulate various endorphin release points on the human body. The laser produces no heat and cannot cut, burn, or harm the client in any way. Our sessions rely on the healing, regenerative energy of laser light to overcome your addiction by attacking it at the cellular and molecular level; penetrating deep inside your tissue and nerve endings naturally and without heat or discomfort. The term "cold" however, may also be misleading, because the low intensity laser does not produce a frigid sensation of any kind.

What are endorphins and why is endorphin stimulation and release such a key part of the LLLT process?

Endorphins are small, protein molecules produced in the cells of the human body's central nervous system and in many ways they act as mood elevators. The endorphins work with the receptors in the brain, spinal cord, and nerve endings to control pain as well as cravings for addictive substances such as nicotine. Stimulation of these endorphins and the body's nerve endings through low level laser application is believed to reduce the symptoms normally associated with nicotine withdrawal by "awakening" the receptors through exposure to pure laser light which mimics the chemical effect that was formerly achieved through the act of smoking. These natural mood elevators are now stimulated via the life affirming power of light, instead of addictive nicotine and cancer causing carcinogens.

Won't I gain weight if I quit smoking cigarettes?

In large part, this is nothing more than a myth or urban legend. While some people report minor weight gain when going cold turkey or quitting tobacco through other methods, this is not the case for most people who quit smoking with the assistance of low level "cold" laser therapy. Just as the laser light penetrates deep within your nerve endings, tissue, and cells to fight the addiction of smoking; it also helps to stimulate endorphins which counteract binge eating and food addiction, thereby neutralizing such behavior. If you have serious concerns about weight gain or are prone to overeating, discuss it with your laser technician who can suggest exercise and diet tips that should help. Consulting a nutritionist or certified personal trainer while kicking the smoking habit is also an idea that we think makes good sense.

Why should I quit smoking now?

Smoking is an offensive habit that has disastrous long-term consequences to your health, physical appearance, self-esteem, and social life. Every time you ingest toxic smoke into your lungs, you inhale dozens of cancer causing agents and poisons that put you at serious risk for contracting cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and countless other devastating illnesses. Additionally, it is an expensive habit that can have a negative financial impact on your life. Furthermore, it affects your family negatively by exposing them to harmful second hand smoke, and forcing them to take care of you and watch you deteriorate during a prolonged smoking related sickness. Ultimately your loved ones will be left mourning your passing to an untimely death. However, when you quit smoking your body begins to recuperate and heal almost immediately. In no time at all, your health will begin to improve and with each passing week, month, and year – your odds of avoiding a horrific tobacco related disease and/or death will improve dramatically.

Is there anything that I can do to help improve my chances for success?

Absolutely, even though low level laser therapy for smoking cessation has proven successful in Europe and Canada for years, with success rates reported to be as high as 80-90%, you won't succeed unless you're serious about making the commitment to do so. Sure the laser may seem to be a miracle device but the truth is that you have to want to shatter the addiction cycle. The laser will help you to break free of the physical aspects of addiction and withdrawal but the mental hold that cigarettes have on you may still exist. We'll provide you with tips for avoiding smoking-triggers but you have to be an active participant in your recovery as well. Avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, certain social situations, controlling your stress levels, and changing your smoking related habits (especially during the initial days and weeks of first quitting tobacco) will all be keys to your success. Be certain to rid your home, car, and work space of all tobacco products prior to your appointment at Quit Smoking Laser Spa of NJ. Following their smoking cessation session, many people find the nutritional supplements of calcium, magnesium, zinc, complex vitamin B, & licorice root to be helpful with the detoxification process and with curbing nicotine cravings (always consult your personal physician before taking any supplements).

What laser system do you utilize in the smoking cessation program?

Quit Smoking Laser Spa of NJ uses the Omega XP Clinical Low Level Laser System to treat our clients and break the smoking addiction cycle. The Omega XP is produced by one of the most respected manufacturers in the business, and is of far superior quality to many of the lasers being used by our competitors. Can I remain clothed during the smoking cessation low level laser session?

Yes, the acupressure nerve ending points are all accessible without the complete removal of any normal items of clothing. You will NOT have to disrobe. The points of stimulation are located on the ears, hands, arms, and face. Try to wear loose fitting clothing and short sleeve shirts whenever possible. Avoid items of clothing such as turtlenecks and other tight fitting, difficult to adjust attire. Also, remove all earrings, facial piercings, bracelets, and wrist watches prior to visiting Quit Smoking Laser Spa of NJ.

There is no limit to the number of referral fees you can collect but the referred client must fill out the referral notification form when they come in for their initial session. If the referred client presents any other type of discount offer (for $25 or more), it is redeemed in lieu of this offer and negates their $25 discount but you will still receive the full referral fee on your end.

Does Quit Smoking Laser Spa of N.J. offer a "house call" service?

We do offer a mobile service to anywhere in New Jersey, as well as to certain parts of NY, PA, & CT, whereby a technician will come to your home to perform the LLLT procedure at your residence. There is a $65 surcharge for this "house call" service and you must provide a quiet, calm setting free of distractions (dogs, kids, loud noises) where the low level laser treatment can be performed. Additionally, if a booster is required, you must either come into the spa to receive it for free or once again pay the $65 surcharge for a return visit.

What if I relapse and return to tobacco use in the future?

Sometimes people quit for years, but then something happens that causes them to go back to cigarettes. That is okay, we're not here to judge, we're here to help. If the relapse occurs during the 1st month of your initial laser session, we'll provide you with that one free booster session at no charge. If more than a month has passed, we'll put you back through the program at a reduced fee. The majority of our clients will never have to worry about a relapse, as most people who utilize low level "cold" laser therapy to quit smoking – quit for good.
